The chemically dependent person goes through a marked behavioral change in his attitude. The tell-tale signs are a sudden change of friends, secrecy, meetings behind closed doors, mysterious telephone calls, frequent absences, lying frequently etc.
He may spend large sums of money, beg, borrow or steal articles form the house or elsewhere. A change in age appropriate activities and relationships may be noticed. Becoming lethargic and apathetic with a loss of interest in personal hygiene, psychological disturbances such as irritability, lack of concentration, depression, suspicion, etc., are some of the marked symptoms of this disease.
