From here, it takes the battle beyond the immediate precincts of the centre to society. The Karnataka State Aids Prevention Society (KSAPS) has selected Freedom Foundation to conduct awareness programmes in and around Bangalore city. The target group for information dissemination is diverse and includes educational institutions (schools, colleges and universities), factory employees, corporate institutions, other voluntary organisations, religious institutions, doctors, bus drivers, the villagers in the adjoining Hennur areas, prisons, high risk areas like Bellary, etc, As per government norms and requirements laid down by NACO, at least 2 such awareness programmes are conducted every month. In the past year, more than 20 such programmes have been conducted. Sero-positive patients act as effective spokespersons at these awareness programmes. Top Employee Assistance Programme: FF has an Employee Assistance Programme which includes training personnel at corporate agencies and business houses by an experienced EAP consultant to deal with issues of Chemical Dependency and HTV/AIDS within the company. Top Legal Assistance Freedom Foundation takes up specific cases of discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS and fights for their rights in court. For this purpose they liaison with Lawyers Collective, an organisation of Lawyers based in Bombay who specialise in legal intervention for AIDS victims and also the prestigious National Law School, Bangalore. They also have a lawyer in Bangalore to fight local cases. The FF also works for the rights of HIV+ve persons through the Central Government's Technical Resource Group on Legal and Ethical Issues of HIV/AIDS.
